Vol. 462 No. 8

Written Answers. - DPP Office Review.

Willie O'Dea

Ceist:

52 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for Finance in view of his statement in 1995 that he was keeping efficiency of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution under constant internal review and would examine all possibilities for its further improvement, the improvements, if any, he has identified; if he has satisfied himself that it is operating at maximum efficiency; and the steps, if any, he proposes to take to make these improvements. [2942/96]

A review of the Office of the Director of Public prosecutions has been undertaken by officials from my Department. The group's conclusions will be available to the DPP and to the Department of the Taoiseach within a few weeks. Additionally, in the context of the Strategic Management Initiative, a management study was undertaken with the assistance of an outside consultant.

My Department is also providing assistance in the provision of information technology systems within the office.
