Written Answers. - Cummeen (Sligo) Drainage Scheme.

Ceist:

180 Mr. Bree asked the Minister for the Environment the current position regarding the proposed Cummeen drainage scheme, County Sligo, which has been included in the application to the EU Commission for finance under the Cohesion Fund in respect of the Sligo Bay wastewater management scheme; and if he will request the European Commission to make this project a priority in 1996. The Cummeen drainage scheme is included in the Sligo Bay wastewater management scheme, of which stage 1 has been approved for Cohesion Fund support. Pending decisions by the EU Commission about further stages of the scheme, and having regard to the existing level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to advance the Cummeen proposal.
