Ceist:207 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for the Environment the current number of applicants on the housing list and the transfer list in each local authority housing area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6538/96]
Written Answers. - Housing List Numbers.
The need for local authority housing is determined by periodic assessment carried out by local authorities. The last such assessment was carried out in March 1993, and details of the number of households found to be in need of housing are contained in my Department's Annual Housing Statistics Bulletin for 1993, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. The next assessment of the need for housing accommodation will be carried out on 29 March 1996 and the results will be published in the Housing Statistics Bulletin as soon as possible after that.
