Ceist:285 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Justice the number of certificates of naturalisation which were issued to non-nationals since 1 December 1994; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6138/96]
I propose to answer Questions Nos. 284 and 285 together.
A total of 425 certificates of naturalisation was issued by my Department in the period 1 December 1994 to 28 February 1996. One of these certificates was issued to a person of Bulgarian nationality. In addition, a number of persons of Bulgarian nationality would have obtained Irish citizenship by virtue of being married to Irish citizens.
