Ceist:193 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education when a grant will issue to a national school (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that this grant was sanctioned in December 1995. [13483/96]

My Department notified the school in question last February that a grant of £3,000 had been allocated subject to the terms of the recreational facilities scheme. It was clearly indicated this grant would not be formally approved or payments made until my Department was satisfied all the conditions of the scheme had been met and the relevant documentation pertaining to the project was in order. It appears from the documentation recently submitted by the school that the work on the project was completed prior to the date of grant allocation in which case the school would not have been in a position to comply with the tendering arrangements under the terms of the scheme.
