Vol. 467 No. 4

Written Answers. - FÁS Dispute.

Eamon Walsh

Ceist:

268 Mr. E. Walsh asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if he will intervene in the industrial dispute at FÁS which has caused a local training scheme supported by FÁS in partnership with Tallaght South Dublin Chamber of Commerce with an input of over £100,000 by the chamber for 42 young people in Tallaght, to be suspended since November 1995 with no sign of a resolution, causing these 42 young people to be deprived of an opportunity to develop their employment potential; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13189/96]

Mary Harney

Ceist:

271 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the steps, if any, he is taking to resolve the industrial relations dispute at FÁS in view of the number of young people adversely affected by this dispute; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13219/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 268 and 271 together.

Responsibility for dealing with industrial relations issues of this nature in FÁS rests with the management there and it would be inappropriate for me to intervene in the matter. The position in so far as the training programme in Tallaght is concerned is a day to day matter for FÁS.
