39 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if the recruiting process has commenced in relation to the Government's decision of March 1996 to appoint an accounting officer with responsibility for FEOGA matters, separate from his Department's current accounting officer; and when this new officer will take up his position. [19422/96]
The appointment of a director with responsibility for FEOGA payments will be made in the context of a reorganisation of my Department. I expect my Department to finalise its proposals for this reorganisation very shortly. These proposals will take account of the document Delivering Better Government including the proposed amendment of the Ministers and Secretaries Act.
I will be consulting other members of the Government on the reorganisation of the Department. Following on this process, the steps necessary for the filling of the new post will proceed.
