I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that dealing number W6612/96 refers to an application for transfer of part and dealing number W2566/96 refers to an application for withdrawal of name. I understand that it is expected that both dealings will be completed within one month.

Ceist:122 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Justice if her Department will issue a Land Registry duplicate/replacement land certificate (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [23440/96]
I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application for a duplicate land certificate which was lodged on 16 September 1996. This application is being processed in accordance with the procedure as specified in rule 170 of the Land Registration Rules 1972. If the original certificate is not forthcoming within the prescribed time, the Registrar will make an order for the issue of a duplicate certificate.

The Deputy will recall putting down a question on 15 October 1996 in relation to this case, which refers to an application under section 49 (i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession) of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 25 August 1995. I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the most recent query was issued to the lodging solicitors on 15 October 1996 and a reply is awaited. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion time, but on receipt of satisfactory replies, I can confirm that the matter will be expedited by the Land Registry.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the dealing number referred to by the Deputy would appear to be incorrect and that the correct dealing number in this case is W4429/96. I understand that this dealing, which was lodged on 8 July 1996 has been expedited. It is expected that the dealing will be completed in two weeks and a new folio opened for the applicant.

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 (i.e. acquisition of title by virtue of long possession) of the Registration of Title Act, 1964, which was lodged on 22 January 1996.
I understand that, due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 take some time to process and it is not possible to estimate a completion time at this stage. However, I can confirm that the matter is being expedited by the Land Registry.
