Vol. 472 No. 6

Written Answers. - House Grants.

Liam Fitzgerald

Ceist:

110 Mr. L. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for the Environment his views on whether it is in the interest of equity that the first time buyers grant for a new house of £3,000 should be extended to include first time purchasers of second-hand houses in Dublin city in view of the fact that houses have been renovated in order to make them more habitable and in view of the receding land bank in the Dublin city environs; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23953/96]

The new house grant is to assist first time owner occupiers of new houses. Cost implications would rule out extending the grant to first time purchasers of existing houses.
