My main concern in relation to the price quotation system used by beef factories is to ensure that the system is transparent and does not mislead producers. In general, the position is that factories quote prices on a VAT inclusive basis, with the level of the VAT rebate being clearly indicated. Vendors are then in a position to compare prices on offer from the various meat factories. I believe, therefore, that the current cattle price quotation system operated by meat factories is satisfactory.
