62 Mr. O'Malley asked the Minister for the Environment the efforts, if any, made by his Department to ensure that the Burren and north Clare water services plan Cohesion Fund application is put in a high priority category; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4990/97]
My Department is in contact with the European Commission on an ongoing basis in an effort to secure Cohesion Funding for the Burren and north Clare water services plan and has written to the Commission pointing out the importance of the schemes contained in the application. Notwithstanding that co-financing has not yet been secured for the project, the Lisdoonvarna water supply and sewerage schemes, which were contained in the application to the Commission, will be advanced through the planning and design stages this year as part of my Department's water and sewerage services work programme for 1997.
