215 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Health the number of adoption orders granted in respect of children born outside the Republic of Ireland from the enactment of the Adoption Act in each of the years from 1952 to 1990; and if he will give a breakdown of these figures by country of origin and by year. My Department has obtained figures from the Adoption Board for the number of adoption orders granted in respect of children born outside the Republic of Ireland for the period 1952 to 1956 and 1985 to 1990. Unfortunately such information is not available in respect of the years 1957 to 1984. The available information is set out as follows. The board does not have a breakdown of these figures by country of origin but I am advised that in the majority of cases the children would have been born in the United Kingdom or Northern Ireland.
