Ceist:

130 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science the membership and terms of reference of the joint education and industry task force to improve the supply of technicians for high technology industries. [15276/97]

The membership of the Industry-Education Task Force on the Supply of Techincians is: Seán McDonagh, Director, Regional Technical College, Dundalk, (Chairperson); Frank Turpin, Public Affairs Manager, INTEL, Ireland; Brendan Mac Conamhna, Director, Regional Technical College, Sligo; Chris Cowley, Head of School of Electronics and Communications Engineering, Dublin Institute of Technology; Una Halligan, Public Relations Manager, Hewlett-Packard; Michael Delaney, Head of Development, Regionial Technical College, Cork; Seán McEntee, Managing Director, Laserform Ireland; Tony Quinlan, Registrar, Regional Technical College, Galway; Peter Lillis, Manager of Corporate Development, Industrial Development Agency; Paddy Downey, Registrar, Waterford Institute of Technology; Siobhán Finnegan, Head of School of Science, Regional Technical College, Athlone; Eleanor Curtis, Academic Recruitment Specialist, Hewlett-Packard; Raymond McGreal, Human Resource Manager, DELL Products.

The nominations for membership came from the education and industry sector.

The terms of reference for the task force are as follows:

(1) to identify and provide a range of practical proposals and measures to develop the demand and enrolment process and throughput of successful students on relevant certificate and diploma pragrammes of study. Targets and measures will be put in place for the academic sessions 1997-8, 1998-9 and 1999-2000;

(2) to report on an immediate and continuing basis with a final report to issue not later than mid-October 1997.
