66 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food his views on a recent newspaper report (details supplied) concerning a letter of introduction issued by his predecessor; if he will give details in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16532/97]

I assume the Deputy is referring to the letter of introduction issued by my predecessor in respect of a project in Gambia which was the subject of a recent newspaper report. My Department has had no further inquiries about this project and has no knowledge of its status.
