Vol. 481 No. 6

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

117 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a 1997 ewe premium and sheep headage appeal will be finalised for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact that the appeal was lodged some time ago. [16747/97]

My Department has an independent appeals unit to which herdowners may appeal if they disagree with a decision made regarding penalties imposed on their premium and headage payments. To date the unit has no record of having received an appeal from the person named. Until such time as an appeal is lodged, the herdowner's claim cannot be considered further.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

118 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food, further to his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 43 of 7 October 1997, the other payments, if any, which are payable to the person referred to; and the amount of such payments in 1996. [16751/97]

The person referred to in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 43 of 7 October 1997 was paid the following amounts under the other 1996 headage and premia schemes in accordance with the regulations governing the schemes concerned: cattle headage/beef cow, £2,519.59; sheep headage, £2,400.00; suckler cow premium, £4,487.36; special beef premium, £3,696.97; extensification premium, £2,193.65; BSE suckler cow top-up, £604.80; and BSE special beef top-up, £591.48.

To date in 1997 applications have been received from the person referred to under the following schemes: ewe premium, sheep headage, cattle headage and suckler cow.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

121 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid his 1997 sheep headage premium in view of the fact that the delay is causing financial hardship. [16759/97]

The person named submitted an area aid form for 1997 with a declared forage area of 88.89 hectares covering 22 parcels.

There were problems with three commonage parcels claimed by the herdowner. This issue has now been resolved and payment of 1997 sheep headage will issue as soon as possible.
