61 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the cultural projects, if any, which she intends to bring forward to celebrate the millennium; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20771/97]
As I indicated in a reply to a similar question on 14 October, it is a matter for the Government to decide how best to celebrate the millennium and also the Department that will be responsible for leading any projects to be undertaken. No such decision has been taken at this point. The question, therefore, of whether specific cultural projects will be commissioned by my Department to mark the commemoration of the millennium can only be addressed in the context of a Government decision on the millennium celebrations generally.
