Vol. 484 No. 3

Written Answers. - Herd Numbers.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

146 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was refused a herd number in her own right in view of the fact she owns over four hundred acres of land and she has separate handling facilities and a building available to house animals. [21898/97]

The position is that the applicant does not currently have suitable separate housing and handling facilities which is prerequisite for receiving a herd number.

Should the circumstances change, it is open to the person in question to make a new application.
