248 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will give details of the number of people who were sent abroad for treatment to date in 1997; if he will give a breakdown for each health board in this regard; and the cost and type of procedures involved. [22265/97]

The referral of patients abroad is a matter for the health boards in the first instance. The information requested is not readily available, but I have sought it from the health boards and I will forward it to the Deputy as soon as it becomes available.
