Vol. 484 No. 3

Written Answers. - Naturalisation Scheme.

Jim O'Keeffe

Ceist:

322 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the basis, if any, on which he claims to be entitled to refuse information to Dáil Éireann in response to parliamentary questions on the 114 persons who applied for, and were granted, naturalisation for each of the years from 1988 to 1994 under the investment based scheme; his views on whether his bringing forward a report on the general issue of the future of the scheme is unrelated to his obligation to furnish information to Dáil Éireann on whether these applications complied with the criteria for naturalisation established by Government decision of December 1988; whether he will furnish the information requested in Parliamentary Questions Nos. 323 to 328 of 4 November 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22302/97]

I have not claimed any such entitlement, as the Official Report will confirm. The position is as I outlined in response to the questions referred to by the Deputy.
