323 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if a grant of £3,000 approved by his Department to a community sporting organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 12 will be paid. [21907/97]

No grant has been approved by this Department for the organisation referred to by the Deputy. However, the federation did apply to the Department of the Taoiseach for a grant under a scheme for grants for local development projects in April 1997 but were not allocated funding under the scheme.
This organisation has recently been advised that as its application is eligible for consideration under the sports capital programme, it will be included for consideration in the next round of grant approvals under this programme due in 1998.
