Vol. 488 No. 1

Written Answers - Stamp Duty.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

150 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance whether a person (details supplied) in County Mayo, with a farming certificate, would qualify for the two-thirds exemption in stamp duty if he pursues alternative farming, for example, chicken rearing as opposed to buying land. [5547/98]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that relief under section 112 of the Finance act, 1994, applies only to the transfer of land or an interest in land to a young trained farmer and would not apply in the case outlined by the Deputy.
