Vol. 488 No. 4

Written Answers - Control of Framing Pollution.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

122 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the circumstances which led to the Sligo farm development service of his Department sanctioning a grant under the EU control of farmyard pollution scheme for a slatted shed development (details supplied) in view of the fact that the site was not previously a farmyard; and the basis on which the grant was approved. [6211/98]

Ceist:

123 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the circumstances which led to the Sligo farm development service of his Department sanctioning a grant under the EU control of farmyard pollution scheme for a cluster of slatted sheds (details supplied) in a location in which surface and ground waters would be extremely vulnerable to pollution; and the basis on which the grant was approved. [6212/98]

The provision of slatted shed accommodation and slurry storage facilities was approved in these cases to facilitate the proper management and storage of agricultural waste on the farms.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

124 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason the Sligo farm development service of his Department approved a grant under the EU farm improvement scheme for a relatively large scale silage slab and bovine and sheep type slatted shed development (details supplied) near the dwellinghouse of a family opposed to the development on environmental grounds. [6213/98]

The farm buildings approved in this case were not constructed on a site at Leafoney. The local planning authority have confirmed that the development at Quigabar is an exempted development for the purposes of the planning regulations in that it complies with the normal exemptions applying to agricultural structures.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

126 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in relation to his application for grant under the BSE and agri-monetary compensation schemes; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6220/98]

There are no BSE compensation payments outstanding to the person named. He did, however, apply under the 1997 national agrimonetary compensation scheme. His application is being processed and, provided it is in order, payment will issue shortly.
