Vol. 488 No. 4

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

169 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when outstanding suckler grant payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6514/98]

An advance payment of £3,365.52 issued to the person concerned on 2 December 1997 in respect of suckler cow premium payment. Before the balance of the premium payment could issue all of the forage area declared by the person concerned had to be validated by the land parcel identification system. This has now been completed and the outstanding payments will issue within the next two weeks.

John Perry

Ceist:

170 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will have arrangements made to have extra suckler cow quota granted to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo in view of the fact that he is a full-time farmer, whose spouse is ill and has a large young family; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6515/98]

The person named has applied for an allocation of suckler cow quota from the 1998 national reserve. I have accepted the recommendations of the Quota Review Group which gave priority for the allocation of quota from this reserve to eligible applicants with low livestock units. It is estimated that all the available quota will be utilised by eligible applicants with less than ten livestock units. As the person named already has 18 livestock units, he will not receive an allocation of quota from this reserve.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

171 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive his headage and premia payments in view of the fact that his Department caused the delay by issuing incorrect aerial photographs to the farmer. [6516/98]

The area aid application of the person named was randomly selected for inspection in accordance with EU regulations. The inspection was delayed because the wrong maps were supplied to the inspectors. The inspection will be carried out this week and the results will be processed as soon as possible. Outstanding payments will issue as soon as the inspection results are recorded.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

172 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when an appeal for 1997 cattle headage will be finalised for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [6517/98]

The herdowner has lodged an appeal with the headage and premia appeal unit concerning his 1997 cattle headage application. The matter is now being examined and it is expected that the case will be concluded within the next two weeks. The herdowner will be notified of the outcome at that stage.
