138 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the reason a project (details supplied) in County Mayo was not assisted under the recreational facilities scheme in view of the fact that they have applied each year for the past six years. [10286/98]
An application for funding under the sports capital programme was received from the community centre in question in August 1996. 1998 grants under the programme were recently allocated and all available funds have now been committed to a number of projects around the country. The centre is not among the projects approved for grant aid in 1998 as other projects were afforded higher priority.
The sports capital programme is currently under review. Accordingly, no further applications are being invited until the review is completed and I am in a position to publicise details of the new schemes.
