247 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if the award of tenders for school transport to and from Mayo islands will be as outlined in the tender documentation already issued, that is, that only vessels having a passenger licence for 30 or more passengers will be considered for selection; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Tenders for the provision of scheduled passenger ferry services between Inishturk and Clare Island and the mainland for the period 1 October 1998 to 30 June 1999 were sought by my Department in early August 1998. These tenders are currently being examined by my Department in consultation with relevant interested parties and in the context of the information supplied by my Department.
A decision on the successful tenders for these services has not yet been taken by me.
