213 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the details of grant assistance given to the potato, fruit and vegetable sectors for the horticulture industry under the FEOGA scheme for the years 1997 and to date in 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18703/98]

Details of grant assistance awarded to the potato, fruit and vegetable sectors of the horticulture industry, under the FEOGA marketing and processing scheme, in the two years in question are as follows:

Total	6,304,252	673,920

This grant-aid was awarded to allow the beneficiaries to upgrade their storage, handling and processing facilities. I am confident that it will enable them to meet the high standards of quality and hygiene now being demanded by the consumer.
