454 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will give details of the application for support, under the 8-15 year old early school leaver initiative, showing the name of the applicant, the amount of grant aid sought and the number of pupils whose needs the project sought to address; and if he will give details of those which were successful in their application and those which were unsuccessful. A total of 115 completed applications for funding were examined by the selection committee under the project strand of the 8-15s Early School Leavers Initiative. The 117 applications mentioned in previous answers to parliamentary questions included two duplicate applications. Fourteen pilot project areas were selected for support under this initiative. The areas in question embraced a total of 17 applications. The resources sought by some projects are based on estimated figures, as specific costings were not submitted by the applicants in question.
With regard to the successful applications, information relating to the number of pupils being targeted may be subject to modification as each project is now proceeding to refine its programme proposals in line with its funding allocation and to prepare an initial short-term costed programme of actions.
