Vol. 495 No. 7

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

643 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation if his Department has considered applications for grant funding for an organisation (details supplied); if the organisation met the various requirements on these occasions; and if their proposals are eligible for consideration in any new allocation of resources under the grant scheme. [21017/98]

Grants of £5,000 and £10,000 were allocated to the club in question in 1993 and 1994 respectively under the sports capital programme. In line with standard procedures, payment of the grants is subject to the club providing specific documentation and information confirming that the development complies with the terms and condition of the programme. My Department has recently been in contact with the club to arrange a meeting to discuss what information still outstanding is required in order for payment of the grant to be made.

The sports capital programme is currently being reviewed by my Department. When the review is completed, which I expect will be towards the end of 1998, details of the new schemes will be widely publicised and it will then be open to clubs and organisations to apply for funding under the new programme.
