129 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Finance if he will report on the progress of legislation proposed to allow for proper decentralised regions in order to qualify for the next round of Structural Funds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3482/99]
I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 151 of 10 February 1999 which sets out the position on regional structures arising from the Government's decision of 9 February in the matter. Officials of my Department and the Department of the Environment and Local Government will liaise closely in relation to the making of the necessary order under the Local Government Act, 1991 to provide for the establishment of the new group regional authorities.
