267 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the forage area claimed by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo on his area aid applications for the past three years; and if the pre-printed total forage area on his 1998 application was incorrect - based on his claims for previous years. In 1996 the total forage area claimed by the applicant was 16.88 hectares. In 1997 the total forage area claimed was 16.181 hectares. The applicant however submitted maps in these years for the digitising of only five hectares of that total area.
In 1998 the pre-printed application reflected the amount of land, five hectares, which had been digitised on the basis of the maps which had been previously submitted by the applicant.
The applicant signed and returned this pre-printed application for without making any additions or amendments. The application was therefore processed by my Department on that basis.
