Vol. 503 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disabled Drivers Scheme.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

303 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Finance if he will include blind people as passengers eligible under the disabled drivers and disabled passengers car scheme currently under review; and when this review will be completed. [10075/99]

I refer the Deputy to the reply to the Adjournment Debate held on 2 March 1999 which dealt comprehensively with this matter and to other parliamentary questions on this topic today. The review of the scheme, under the chairmanship of the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform had not yet been completed.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

304 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Finance the concessions, if any, available for persons (details supplied) in County Donegal with two handicapped children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10138/99]

I presume that the Deputy is referring to the disabled drivers and disabled passengers (tax concessions) scheme, details of which are available in the Dáil Library.

While I have no role in the determination of whether a person does or does not qualify for benefit under the scheme, I have asked the Revenue Commissioners to forward the necessary details and applications form to the Deputy.
