Vol. 503 No. 3

Written Answers. - Family Support Services.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

428 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs when a family income supplement for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be altered to reflect the drop in her income and circumstances in view of the fact the income decrease is long-term. [9977/99]

Under the legislation governing family income supplement (FIS) payment of supplement continues for 52 weeks and is only reviewed during that period if the person ceases employment or an additional child is born.

The person concerned was awarded FIS from 11 February 1999 on the basis of her average earnings over the period from 6 April 1998. This included a three day week working for a period of the year which is a feature of her employment.

If the person concerned is not satisfied with the decision in her case it is open to her to appeal to the Independent Appeals Office. She has been notified of the decision and of her right to appeal.
