Vol. 503 No. 3

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

John Perry

Ceist:

492 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the title deed on a property will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10043/99]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that the Land Registry operates a system of registration of title whereby all relevant particulars concerning the land and its ownership are entered on special registers called folios maintained in the Land Registry.

Documents lodged with the Land Registry in support of an application for registration (the title deeds) are retained by the Land Registry as proof of ownership.

Registered owners may obtain from the Land Registry, on payment of the specified fee, a certified copy folio, £4.00, a certified copy folio and map, £9, or a land certificate, £13, as certification of their ownership of the property.
I am further advised that that the applicant was registered as full owner of the property in question on 18 August 1981.
