Vol. 503 No. 3
107 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Finance the policy of the Office of Public Works on the disposal of property no longer required by the public service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10029/99]
The Office of Public Works follows standard Government contract procedures in disposing of property which is surplus to the State's requirements. This requires that in normal circumstances the property is disposed of through public competition by tender or auction. In experienced cases, circumstances may dictate that direct sale or restricted competitive bidding is more appropriate. The sanction of the Minister for Finance is required before the normal procedures are dispensed with in such cases.
