Ceist:68 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of reported cases of sexual and physical child abuse between 1994 and 1999, including those where a prosecution did not take place. [27474/99]

The figures sought by the Deputy are laid out in the following table. Statistics relating to 1999 will not be available until early next year. The Deputy should be aware that figures in respect of 1998 are provisional. My Department does not have information relating to prosecutions arising from reported cases of child abuse.
