Vol. 516 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

250 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí in each division; the most recent figures on reported crimes in each division; and the most recent detection rate in each division. [8588/00]

Indictable crime statistics, including the detection rate, for each Garda division by crime categories and per 1,000 of the population can be found in the annual reports of the Garda Síochána, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. The most recent annual report details the crime statistics for 1998.

The detailed deployment of Garda personnel to individual areas is a matter for the Garda authorities who have informed me that as of 21 March 2000 the number of gardaí, all ranks, in each of the Garda divisions is as follows:–
