While naturally I am concerned with any under-reporting of crime, there is no evidence that the level of under-reporting of crime is greater now than before. As I have indicated before, my Department is considering the implications of results of the Central Statistics Office survey of crime and victimisation from 1998. In terms of international comparisons for surveys of this type, Ireland compares favourably with similar countries.
