As the provision of orthodontic treatment to eligible persons in County Mayo is the statutory responsibility of the Western Health Board I have asked the chief executive officer of that board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.

Ceist:135 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the number on orthodontic waiting lists in the eastern health board area in each of the years since 1990. [23737/00]
The provision of orthodontic treatment to eligible persons and the maintenance of waiting lists for treatment in the Eastern Regional Health Authority area is the statutory responsibility of that authority.
All of the information requested by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department. I have asked the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to investigate the position in relation to the question raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to him as soon as possible.
