Vol. 525 No. 1

Written Answers. - Flood Relief.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

101 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works is permitted, subject to funds being available, to carry out flood relief for persons (details supplied) in County Mayo on a stream which is a tributary of the River Moy under the Arterial Drainage (Amendment) Act, 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19202/00]

The stream in question is a tributary of the River Moy but does not form part of the Moy catchment drainage scheme. It was considered for inclusion in the Moy drainage scheme but was omitted on economic grounds. Consequently, the Commissioners of Public Works have no responsibility for maintenance of this stream nor have they any proposals to carry out works on it under the Arterial Drainage (Amendment) Act, 1995.

Question No. 102 taken with Question No. 20.
