123 Ms Coughlan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when the NBAS scheme will be fully operative; if he has satisfied himself with the level of co-operation being provided by farmers, veterinary practitioners, livestock marts and processors in meeting their respective commitments in the CMMS system for cattle traceability; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The detailed arrangements for implementing the national beef assurance scheme are being finalised at present with a view to commencing the scheme as early as possible in the new year.

As to the CMMS, I am satisfied that the vast majority of participants are continuing to co-operate with the CMMS and that the system is operating satisfactorily.
