Ceist:

134 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a suckler cow grant payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29384/00]

The person named applied for suckler cow premium on 14 cows on 30 May 2000.

During processing of the claim it was found that one of the animals was slaughtered during the retention period. The applicant was advised of the position and recently provided an explanation regarding the animal under query. The case has now been finalised and payment of 60% will issue to the person named this week.

Ceist:

135 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when headage grant payments under the beef cow scheme will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29385/00]

The person named applied under the 2000 cattle headage scheme on 26 May 2000. The herd of the person named was inspected on 13 October 1999 under the 1999 cattle headage scheme and it was found that seven animals were not tagged, another seven animals were not registered on the database and consequently had no passports, and 22 animals were not entered in the official herd register of bovine animals. He was informed at the inspection that he was in breach of the identification and registration regulations and advised that his herd would be inspected again within 12 months.

The second inspection of his herd took place on 9 October 2000 and it was found that the sale of 48 animals, which again he had not applied on under the scheme, was not recorded in the bovine herd register. Clause 35(d) of the 2000 cattle headage scheme states: "If the animals for the scheme concerned are found to be non-compliant at 2 checks within 24 months, then the total amount of aid granted in the 12 months prior to the second check will be reduced proportionally." The person named was advised of this at the inspection and my Department wrote to him on 8 November 2000 advising him that his grant would be subject to a reduction penalty of 19.83% in accordance with the terms and conditions governing the scheme. He was given the opportunity to have this decision reviewed by writing to the district inspector within 21 days setting out any facts which he wished to put forward to support his case. Any such review will be considered as a matter of urgency.

136 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when headage grant payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29386/00]

The person named applied under the 2000 cattle headage scheme on 31 May 2000. At an inspection of his herd carried out on 27 September 2000, three animals, tag numbers HYA848809, 191266348 and 1915275 were rejected for grants as it could not be fully established that animals bearing those tag numbers were in his ownership and possession on the day of application. He was advised of the position on the date of inspection, and formally notified in writing on 21 November 2000 that no grants were payable on these animals and that the grants payable on the remaining animals would be subject to a reduction penalty in accordance with the terms and conditions governing the scheme. He was given the opportunity to have this decision reviewed by writing to the district inspector setting out any facts which he wished to put forward to support his case. Any such review will be treated as a matter of urgency.

138 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 2000 headage and premia, particularly as he submitted all his maps previously in 1999. [29388/00]

The 2000 area aid application for the person named has been fully processed with no outstanding errors, and the area for payment purposes has been determined at 32.37 hectares. No applications have been received from the person named under the 2000 headage or premia schemes.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

139 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 2000 sheep headage, particularly as the land claimed is identical to that on his 1999 application. [29389/00]

The 2000 area aid application for the person named has been fully processed with no outstanding errors, and the area for payment purposes has been determined at 27.58 hectares. No application has been received from the person named under the 2000 sheep headage scheme. Payment of £265.30, representing the 60% advance under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme, has now issued to the person named. He will be paid his entitlement under the 2000 cattle headage scheme within the next seven days.
