Vol. 531 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rural Environmental Protection Scheme.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

168 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will ease the requirements on farmers under the REP scheme with regard to showing full title to all lands in view of the dispute and delays at the Land Registry. [5701/01]

Applicants for REPS are required to have legal title to all lands owned, farmed or controlled by them and have the necessary documentation available for inspection. This is an essential requirement and an integral part of my Department's controls, which in turn are necessary to satisfy the European Commission regarding the manner in which REPS is administered.

In relation to transferred land where registration has not been completed, a certified copy of the stamped deed of transfer or assent together with the Land Registry dealing number and a map of the lands so transferred is acceptable. Processing of new applications, or amended agri-environmental plans where the area subject to the plan has changed, will not be delayed until registration has been completed.

Question No. 169 answered with Question No. 149.
