Vol. 532 No. 4

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

502 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the reason a road (details supplied) in County Mayo is passed every year for Gaeltacht road grant funding. [8160/01]

At the outset, I should point that all applications for funding under scéim na mbóithre áise – accommodation roads scheme – are evaluated using the following criteria: usage, cost, necessity for improvement works and the status of the Irish language in the area.

The application referred to by the Deputy will again be taken into account in the context of this criteria and also in these context of other applications received and the monies available to me, when applications under the scheme this year are being considered. A decision on the applications to be funded will be taken in the near future.
