250 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Health and Children the average annual cost of a health board run long stay bed and of health board beds contracted in from the private sector; and the aggregate number of beds in each category. [19546/01]

The information requested by the Deputy is not retained in my Department. I have asked each health board and the Eastern Health Authority to furnish the information to my Department as a matter of urgency and I will write to the Deputy as soon as possible.
