Vol. 540 No. 1

Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

410 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will ascertain from the Land Registry Office the reason a section 49 application for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was refused; if there were objectors to the application; and the recourse of appeal the applicant has against this decision. [19598/01]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that notification of the grounds for rejection of this application issued to the lodging solicitors on 23 April 2001. I am further informed that the correspondence also dealt with the issue of objections.

I am also informed that staff of the Land Registry will be happy to provide any additional information or clarification in relation to this dealing to the applicant or his solicitor, should they wish to contact the Land Registry direct.

I can inform the Deputy that the applicant can appeal the decision through the courts in accordance with section 19 (1) of the Registration of Title Act, 1964.

Ceist:

411 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will instruct the Land Registry Office to expedite dealings for a person on a property (details supplied) in County Mayo. [19599/01]

I am informed by the Regis trar of Titles that these dealings refer to applications for first registration which were lodged on 31 January 2000. I understand that, due to their complicated nature, these dealings can take time to process and, accordingly, it is not possible at this time to estimate a completion date.

I am further informed that queries issued to the lodging solicitors on 21 June 2001 and the applications cannot proceed until these queries have been satisfactorily resolved. However, I can assure the Deputy that, on receipt of a satisfactory reply, the matter will receive further attention in the Land Registry.
