179 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science the reason a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is in receipt of two and a half hours resource teaching per week in a school; and the reason a private psychological report is being requested on this child. [31268/01]
I am aware of the case to which the Deputy refers. My Department has sanctioned two and a half hours resource teacher support per week for the pupil in question. This allocation was based on the assessed needs of the child as reflected in documentation submitted by the child's school. I understand that my Department has not requested any additional reports in respect of the child in question. However, my Department would be prepared to consider any additional information which the school may wish to submit in support of any request for an increase in the current level of support provided to the child in question.
