Vol. 546 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Cultural Institutions.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

48 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the likely timetable for the construction of a new building for the National Archives; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [31814/01]

I understand the position is that the Office of Public Works has provided proposals to the Department of Finance relating to the possibility of proceeding with this significant development as a public-private partnership.

I am advised that the Department of Finance is currently considering the detail of the proposals put by the Office of Public Works. It will not be possible to estimate a schedule for the proposed development until this evaluation has been completed.
