Ceist:

332 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the amount which was spent in his Department from June 1997 to December 2001 for media purposes and advertising; if he will categorise where the money was spent; the amount spent of a year to year basis; and the money which was spent on videos, whether for promotional, educational or advertising purposes. Advertising expenditure in 2001 included, as an exceptional measure, 962,938 on the foot and mouth disease public awareness campaign.
A detailed breakdown by category of expenditure is not readily available but the vast bulk of expenditure is in respect of press display advertising, mainly in the specialised farming press. In recent years advertising in the provincial press represented approximately 25% of total advertising expenditure.
