762 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the status of an application to upgrade the treatment plant for the Lisheen Water Scheme, County Roscommon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1869/02]
This proposal is an element of the north-east Roscommon regional water supply augmentation and treatment scheme, which is included in my Department's water services investment programme 2000 as a scheme to commence construction this year. I approved a brief for the appointment of consultants to prepare contract documents for the scheme in February 2000 and approval issued earlier this month to the council's proposal to extend the consultants' brief to include an assessment of alternative surface and groundwater sources for the scheme.
