1731 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the reason the free schemes have not been applied to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo; and the reason his Department has not informed Eircom that this person is entitled to the free schemes. [17212/02]
The person concerned was in receipt of free schemes until she changed her address and notified the ESB and Eircom in July. The allowances ceased automatically. The customer must reapply to my Department to have them reinstated in order to confirm the new utility account details.
Reapplications from the person concerned for household benefits were received in the Department in September. The relevant allowances were awarded shortly thereafter. They are effective from the dates the allowances last applied to her electricity and telephone accounts.
